I love this place for its fine architecture, for the preserved modernista style inside the bar-salon, and for its traditional approach to organising life drawing.
I come here to draw regularly.

The exhibition presents work by Ukrainian artists of different levels and standing — refugees as well as those who have lived in Catalonia for a long time. Most of the works on show reflect on the war. “463” is the four hundred and sixty-three days since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine — the number that will be reached on the day the exhibition opens, 1 June. The “+” has two meanings: the unknown number of days the war will last while the exhibition is on, and the notion of “18+ to enter”, which so often marks sensitive content. The subject of war contains every component of the unacceptable or the “sensitive”: violence, killing, torture, cruelty, aggression, dangerous acts — which means the exhibition space is very nearly the only place where the horrors of war can be shown uncensored.
