INTERNATIONAL EVENT “NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM”

On 18 May the Cherkasy Regional Art Museum held a singular artistic event called “Night at the Museum”, marking International Museum Day. It falls during the Days of Europe in Ukraine, which Ukrainian cultural institutions also seek to join. The whole event revolved around a Venetian carnival, letting visitors sink into the mysterious, antique atmosphere of Venice at night. It was inventively rounded out by various flash mobs, folk-art workshops where anyone could learn to make traditional decorative pieces, and exhibitions by fine artists, folk masters and hand-made makers. It should be said that students of the Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, the Cherkasy State Technological University and the Cherkasy Art and Technical College took an active part in filling out the programme. They offered the public a range of workshops and creative projects. On the whole the audience responded very warmly and approved of all the creative ideas put before them. That night the museum was hot, in both the literal and the figurative sense.
