February tries to frighten us with its name, yet in fact it gives us the most important thing of all — the expectation of spring. In these last winter days I decided to hurry spring along by recalling the endlessness of life and the inevitability of rebirth. I took out my old pastel works and decided to give them new breath. Pastel can be as confident as oil paint and as delicate as capricious watercolour — much like early spring, the pastel season of the year, when the air bursts with fresh smells and colours still whitened by the last snowfalls.
